The kind of camping we do is not the kind that most people would think of. One midnight, eighteen years ago, we wrapped up our tent after being rained on for one too many times, and went home. A couple trailers later, we now camp at places like Grand Casino Hinckley which is fully equipped with amenities such as electricity, cable and free wi-fi.
This type of “not-camping” camping allows me the luxury of bringing my personal blender along to whip up any breakfast smoothie of my liking. Vitamix really needs to come up with a personal blender model; I would be right on it. Here is the recipe I used from this past weekend.
Campground *A.K.A. Winner’s Circle* Smoothie
Makes 1 Serving ~ About 16 oz.
1 nectarine
1/2 pear
1 cup pineapple
1/2 cup almonds (soaked overnight if possible)
4 strawberries (optional-I use for color)
juice of 1/2 lime
1 cup water
1 cup ice
Blend until smooth. Happy Sipping!
Are you a smoothie drinker? Do you have a favorite smoothie?

So, Jill do you camp in a trailer at a campground or are you camping in the hotel? either way – sounds fun! I still enjoy tent camping but have had those rained out driving home at midnight trips too!

We have a 5th wheel trailer with a garage on the back (kind of like our “boat” but on land). This past weekend, we were a a casino campground.

I’ve considered getting a magic bullet for travel, but doesn’t seem practical!

I actually got a fake one for cheap at Kohl’s. I never used it, until my Vitamix broke, then I had no choice. It doesn’t grind as well as the Vitamix, but I figure more fiber that way.

Can your Vitamix be repaired? That would be a sad sad day around here! Glad the little faux magic bullet is doing a good stand in in the meantime!

It was a sad day when my Vitamix broke. It is repaired now. However, I am preferring my faux Magic Bullet because there is a chunkier consistancy. And…it makes 16 oz. When I do smoothies in my Vitamix, I end up with 24 to 32 oz ones. I wish Vitamix made a personal blender model. I would be all over it.

Intriguing! I’m glad you’re vitamix is fixed. I drink 32 oz of smoothie a day so my blendtec is perfect for me, but I make a smaller smoothie for my kids and you’re right, it’s difficult to make a smaller amount for some reason.

Yes, no matter how hard I try, I cannot get a vitamix smoothie down to 16 oz. Maybe it just isn’t enough ingredients to blend.

I think you’re right!
